Funny story, but would never happen in real life by Cural 2008-01-17 14:22:42
First, the EMTs (or whoever came in with the ambulance) wouldn't have automatically loaded a man onto a stretcher without first finding out what the problem is. If they did, and he had an injury they didn't know about, they could make it worse by moving him without being aware of it.

Second, I doubt an EMT would be so startled by a garden snake that he would drop the stretcher, otherwise I doubt he would be working in this field. And that's assuming the stretcher isn't on a gurney.

Third, who tries to catch a snake with a rolled up newspaper? It's good for smaller creepy crawlies, but a snake? Better to use a bag and try to lure it in, or just try to capture it with your hands. (If you're squeamish about that, wear a pair of gloves.) Also, if you can't find a snake, you don't tell the person it's gone, you tell them you can't find it.

Fourth, what good is a bottle of whiskey going to do for a snake bite? And why would the man's wife just let her go and pour a bottle of whiskey down her husband's throat when she knows about the injury she just dealt him? Especially when she thinks her husband was cheating on her, and would want to ask the woman what is going on, or at least confront her in some way, rather than just standing there watching this woman pour whiskey down her injured husband's throat.

Fifth, how the heck did the policeman ever get his badge in the first place if he is using A GUN to shoot A SNAKE?!? What a gross misjudgement to use such extreme measures on something so harmless.

Sixth, the person driving that car should get their license revoked. You don't swerve to avoid an animal, as this will often cause you to lose control and cause an even worse accident. Not to mention the person had to be going faster than was likely wise with a cop car up ahead. And considering the situation they were dispatched for, there's a good possibility they would have had the lights on, too.

While an amusing story, it just isn't realistic enough to be really funny.
