Tea "brewing" time? by Phoon2008-01-17 12:45:46

Application of the label "Tea" to a Lipton product failed: No such products exist.
Application of the label "Tea brewing" to a process that does not involve boiling water failed: No such process exists.

Suggested corrections:
I have a box of Lipton "Cold [fester]" [water colouring bags]. The directions specify that for two quarts of [undrinkable coloured liquid], one should use two [water colouring bags] and let it [fester] for three minutes. My assumption was that for a single quart, a single [water colouring bags] and three minutes would be appropriate.

However, it's been eight minutes and it's just now reaching [discoloured water] status. It'll probably be at least five more before it's dark enough for me.

Is it normal for a reduced amount of tea leaves to take longer to brew, even when using reduced water?
