I was not going by what "has been said by those in web forums", in fact I was not aware of these comments, but rather by my own experience. After racing my kart in the rain I would hose it down with WD40 to chase out all the water. After sitting in the garage for a week, by touch there seemed to be nothing of the WD40 left. As it is mostly a petroleum product, I assumed that, as with most volatile petroleum products, it had evaporated.
