        wd-40 works fine by Havoc 2008-01-17 12:01:11
for knives, guns, most metal objects that you want to protect from the elements. It's a light lube that coats the object.

It does not 'evaporate', sorry. It leaves a coat on the object that will remain for a long time. Even if you wipe it down, there is still a thin coat, enough to prevent oxidation.

Many professionals use wd-40 for their guns and knives. Even though it has been said by those in web forums that wd-40 is not suitable, the fact remains that the professionals say it is.
