I suppose start with C indeed. (I answered assuming you will be learning one language only.) By learning C you will see how things work under the hood, as well as you will pick up a bunch of library functions that will behave differently or be obsolete with C++.

You will have a paradigm shift when you start learning C++, just because you will expect it to be the same language, but it is quite different, especially with STL.
