In 1958, a man found a boy's dead body in a box after following a rabbit into the woods. The case goes cold and is put on hold until 2004, when a suitcase arrives with the boy's name and a picture.
Using the photo, the agency traces the boy to an orphanage where they meet an evasive nun. As the investigation progresses, they learn about radiation experiments performed on the boys at a nearby hospital and about faked admission and adoption papers.
There, they find out that one of the doctors had an affair with one of the nuns. This nun gets pregnant, has the child in secret and fakes the admission papers; even going so far as to make him the brother to a two year old girl, who grows as close as if she were his real sister.
Twice the boy is adopted, twice he is returned because he becomes a problem child as soon as he leaves the orphanage. Because of his behavior, the nun takes him to the hospital and, against his better judgment and insistence, convinces the amorous Doc to give him electroshock to calm him down. The electroshock makes the boy sick and he dies several days later. The nun then fakes the adoption papers and dumps his body in the woods, where she visits every year to lay flowers where she left him. |
