I didn't say it was perfect, I said it was a good way to generate password bases that were easy to remember. With variants like the n+1 suggestion or the alternation suggestion it makes it more difficult to do a hybrid crack against it by modifying a standard dictionary attack (need to figure out the variation and as you know the method it's still easy to remember) granted it relies on security by obscurity but the fact of the matter is it will probably stop the majority of casual attacks.
