| (BTW, if you have a sandwich press/panini grill/etc that dies, 99% of the time the fault is an easily replaceable $1 part called a thermistor, that you can replace as long as you can twist or solder two wires together and wield a screwdriver without stabbing yourself)
The things to look for when buying these...
- A *real* non-stick coating. No brainer really, but some dodgy manufacturers just use black paint. If you can't check it out before buying, look for <BRAND> non-stick, like teflon, etc.
- FLAT cooking surfaces. It's so much harder to clean ridges, stay away from anything with even the slightest bump.
- As said before, a floating hinge. They seem to be the standard anyway.
- Some sort of drain point on the bottom plate. While having non-stick flat surfaces is great, it can be hard to brush crumbs or oils off the bottom plate because of the lip. My grill has a spot grease/oil catcher at the front middle, and it makes cleaning that little bit easier.
- A temperature control.
I'm bored, can you tell? |
