Figuring out how much open source is actually being used is an arcane art, mostly distinguished by the fact that the usual techniques/metrics just work very well for measuring "market" penetration of free/open software.

The methodology used at this site is pretty straightforward, but the target audience (would-be web-developers) is perhaps not representative. Heise Onlone (Major German news-outlet) apparently found that about 1/3 home browsers used Firefox, numbers much lower for businesses (comparing workday vs holiday stats).

It would be interesting to find out the stats for UF...
