It gets as big as its environment will let it. The hardware makers know that. They also know it's more profitable to sell newer, more expensive stuff to a smaller number people than to sell older, cheaper stuff to a large number of people. The used PC market would probably be bigger if not for all the spyware Windows PCs get gunked up with.
