Since you clearly describe a world filled with dangers, wouldn't it be good to actually have one LESS thing to worry about? Matches and cigarette lighters are useful for other things than starting housefires, same thing goes for medicine and caustic chemicals. These should of course also be kept well out of reach for children, but the less things they can get their hands onto, the safer they (and anyone close to them) will be.
