| For example, I lived in one cabin in Nevada and three different houses in western Washington when I was living with my parents. Only one of those houses still exists. I've lived in western Washington now since I was 3 (in 1943) and definitely consider it home, but in the two years I went to college in Iowa and the year in grad school in Oregon I found myself putting down roots in each place. The year in Oregon was the first year we were married and we were as poor as church mice - I had to be at class on Sept. 20, but the first TA check didn't come until Nov. 1. Yet we still really like the Corvallis area - it must have been a good year for us. |
