Why children should be taught basic gun safety by Classic_Jon 2008-01-15 08:33:06
even if you think they will never handle a firearm. I feel for the people involved. :(

"The male took out a handgun, showing it to the girl. He said it was unloaded, however it had not been cleared."

This happened less than 2 miles from where the GF and her three kids live. I have been talking to her for a while to get them into at least the Eddie Eagle program with the NRA but a Friend of hers in Phi Theta Kappa is a reserve Sherriff Deputy and he teaches Firearms and hunting safety and has said he will train them for free when we were talking last weekend. What is Ironic is that I was talking to her this weekend and saying it was not HER kids I was worried about being dumb, it was a neighbors kid that had found their parents gun that was improperly stored. She had never thought about it that way before... :(
