The best way to get someone (geek or not) to read something is to forbid it. On the first day of class, an English Literature professor said The Nun's Priest's Tale from "The Canterbury Tales" was too over-the-top, so they would not be discussing it. Naturally, the students went back to their dorm rooms and read this dreadfully ribald tale... and hence, all were prepared for the next class. Topic: The Nun's Priest's Tale.
