It was a first grade question and she spent 5 minutes staring at her wrist saying things like... "I never realized there was a joint there!" It wasn't a matter of dumbing things down... just a matter of being dumb...

IIRC, the wrist is what's called a gliding or sliding joint which is made up of several bones but it all classifies as one joint. Even if this is not the case, I took a university bio class and a university anatomy class and the fact that there are multiple bones it the wrist came up several times but nobody mentioned that these bones made up anything besides the "wrist".

As a side note, I have to wonder how many of these people are just star struck by the lights and things and go home to a stiff drink and bang their head on a table for a few hours at how stupid they were.
