On useless Christmas gifts: by thread_killer2007-12-26 06:36:49

      Heh, I can explain that one easy :) by Classic_Jon 2007-12-26 07:24:39
Americans love the last minute shopping because of all of the "OMG buy this thing" sales that happen the week before christmas. The other is people are not practical in their gift giving. They buy what is easy for them to give and not what you could use. Not being down on christmas gifting but I have to fight that urge sometimes in buying things and have to think What would I do if I were that person and I got $funky_gift. I also may give them one "joke" gift of something that reminded me of them and one "real" gift of something useful.

On the christmas stores...there are not too many of them and they only sell Christmas ornaments, Lights, artificial trees and other Christmas stuff to decorate with. I know of only one such store that has survived in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Oddly enough, I had an Idea of what I wanted to get people and then went shopping and got aobut 90% of it all in one day. The other stuff was just me shopping around for a better price. The Electric foot massager I got my Dad for his diabetic feet was a big hit :) My mom almost fought him for it when she tried it LOL!
