I remember reading a couple things that were iffy. Like attaching one magnet, or cutting one slot 180 degrees side. These will unbalance your motor. Whatever you do for the counting apparatus, make sure it counts (at a minimum) 1/2 turns, then multiply the result accordingly. (for example, use slots from 0-90 and 180-270 degrees, or 2 magnets, 180 degrees apart). Creating imbalance in any rotating assembly is bad for bearing life.
