there are many things that were later found false. There is some legacy of that today even. So yeah, even we started on false premises. That's why we went and tried to restore the older translations - the older, the closer to the original you get. Most of the clarifications we've had have been tied to archaeological discoveries that either clarify or debunk old beliefs that are "relics of the <insert Church name> attempting to control the population by manipulation of belief and threats of divine retribution."
