we had in one of my freshman classes, more on the Prime Directive I suppose, but assimilation as well, on the morality of intentionally preserving an undeveloped culture in the case where the behaviors of that culture are contrary to more widely accepted views on human rights, or where the lack of modern technology results in suffering that would not happen in a more "developed" society...
