The western culture as compared to the Borg... by kc5sdy2007-11-29 10:54:06
  It's true. Very true. by Peace_man 2007-11-29 11:10:01
And resistance IS futile. Those corporate interests wanting to control the Borg will soon cease to exist as the countries that allow them to infect the Borg wither and die under their oppressive yoke. Those religious extremists who wish to counter the healthy, clean desires that feed the Borg will eventually cease to bother us as they are bypassed on the way to more and better consumer goods.

Only in the few places where these factions rub against each other and create an irritant will the Borg fail to thrive. But unless they become global enough to infect the entire Borg they will eventually be replaced by healthy, conforming Borg, enjoying the consumer bonanza made available to the Borg.

If you want cultural diversity, find it within the Borg. The Borg assimilates what it can from other cultures, and renders it harmless within the Borg collective. If you want to see what an attempt at maintaining a separate culture is like, look to the native populations in Canada. Suicide rates skyrocket - these individuals WANT to join the Borg. And there's nothing wrong with that.
