1) snap trap - if it kills successfully, it's pretty quick. If it doesn't, then the critters will struggle for several hours, potentially.
2) glue trap - doesn't kill them, but getting stuck for several hours would be pretty traumatic. Add the potential for the dog to decide that they're snackables ...
3) electrocution - sure, that could work.
4) poison - yeah, that's got to suck
5) drowning - crueller than 2 and 3, not so sure about 1 and 4.
Getting back to the natural selection concept... 1, 2, and 3 all will leave the critters in full view of their friends as a life lesson. 4 is, as I mentioned, not a great option for me. 5 - not so apparent to the friends, so hopefully more effective.
Suffering of small, non-sentient creatures... not thrilled about causing it, but it's going to happen one way or the other. If I can get the house sealed up well, I'm hoping to keep the carnage to a minimum. |
