The trouble with mice is that if you use some kind of trap for them, you're really only setting up your own form of natural selection: the mice that you catch and kill are the ones that are too stupid to avoid the trap. Darwin kicks in for them, but for the dozens of others hiding in the walls, not so much.

The only sure way of handling a mouse problem is to use poison. It will work every time a mouse eats it and there's no learning curve or random luck that will allow a mouse to simply avoid a trap.

With poison, you have to be careful of pets and/or small children who might find it or the dead/dying mice and intoxicate themselves...

**side note: That's probably not a proper use of "intoxicate", but I kinda like it anyway. ;)

...so you'll need to make sure you keep the poison away from them and keep an eye out for the little mice corpses.
