Some of the bugs have gotten resistant to older antibiotics. Do some research or have doctor look for more recently released drugs. Clindamycin has worked for me lately after going through several others. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for pain meds for relief. They are aware that sinus infections can be quite painful. This past year I was getting infections that would take several months to get rid of. I went to an E.N.T. who recommended removeing my scarred and bad looking tonsils as it was his experience that tonsils that are no longer working correctly can harbor the infections and make it more difficult to cure. I had my tonsils removed back in August and have been infection free since. This is remarkable in my case after having 6 to 8 a year.
