Windows 98 as print server by SnappingTurtle 2007-11-29 08:43:13
You can laugh, but if you do then you must help me. I'm working with scavenged equipment here.

We've got an HP LaserJet 6p and a Windows 98 machine. The computer talks to the printer just fine -- i.e. I have no difficulty printing from Windows 98 to the printer. The W98 machine is on a LinkSys Broadband router which is hooked to a DSL modem. W98 connects to the internet just fine.

Also connected to the router is a Windows XP machine (the one I'm typing on, in fact). The printer only has a parallel connector, not a USB connector, so I can't hook the printer directly up to the XP machine. Buying a USB-2-parallel adapter is not an option.

I know next to nothing about workgroups and windows networking, so talk slowly. How do I set up our little network so that I can print to the printer from the XP machine?

If a phone call or email conversation would be more conducive to walking me through this please contact me at snappingturtle att idocs poynt com.
