Not exactly a glowing triumph for religion in general. The bible also says that God helps those who help themselves. People who depend entirely on faith to survive life-threatening illness or injury are flouting this - you have the opportunity to help yourself, but rely on God to do it. Thus you die. Personally, I have no sympathy for the guy. He chose to die rather than accept the help that was all around him. Even an orthodox Jew would eat un-kosher food if that was all he had to avoid starvation.
