WinXP and Win2K allowed me to run installs in the background via a network logon as an admin while a user was logged in and working. In fact, this often has to occur with our users who turn their machines off at night.

This entire scenario depends on a network connection, yes. If you need the user to get up from the chair, it's not exactly a 'quiet' install. ;) Remote Desktop and Terminal Services are right out.

I realize there are exceptions to any rule, but the apps and patches I refer to do not require exceptions.
