Help Conquer Cancer has restarted on Windows and Mac. It is still suspended for Linux.
World Community Grid have launched Help Conquer Cancer. The project is a collaboration between The Ontario Cancer Institute (OCI), Princess Margaret Hospital and University Health Network.
The goal is to improve the results of protein X-ray crystallography by running image analysis on the results of high-throughput (robotic) biology experiments. The scientists have the results of over 86 million crystallography experiments for more than 9,400 proteins to analyse. This
project will allow them to detect the proteins ready for structural analysis, and also to determine the best way to optimise partial failures.
The World Community Grid is a grid computing project whose mission "[...] is to create the world's largest public computing grid to tackle projects that benefit humanity." Their current projects are AfricanClimate@Home, Help Conquer Cancer, Discovering Dengue Drugs – Together, FightAIDS@Home and Human Proteome Folding Phase 2.
