and selling the babies. Lee Martin wrote a mystery with that plot, "A Conspiracy of Strangers," and was reluctant to publish it for fear of giving anyone ideas, but then a real-life ring was arrested and got publicity, so she went ahead and published. (It's a good book, but if you can get the first one, "Too Sane A Murder," read that one first ;-) Kidnap a baby, you get Amber Alerts and huge manhunts. Kidnap a grown woman, who happens to be pregnant, and people figure she ran off or something.
