Is this overheating? (Athlon XP 2100+) by oot 2007-10-22 18:09:20
The machine does hang frequently, both in Windows and in a test Linux install. It hangs the same way in both (response gets reeeally sluggish, then about 5 seconds later it quits responding to mouse and keyboard all together), so I'm pretty sure it's a hardware thing.

I have already tried it with replacement RAM, which didn't help anything.

I did notice today that the CPU temperature was 74 C right after I rebooted from the most recent hang.

I've Googled, and am getting conflicting information... some sites say anything above 60 is bad, and others say anything up to 90 is OK.

So... almighty UFicle, is an Athlon XP 2100+ running at 74 C overheating, or not?
