... MICROS~1 and MICROS~2 :-) Slightly more seriously, option 1 seems like the most reasonable choice. It won't help much in the short term, as MS software is quite closely tied to the MS OS, but in the long term it will be hard for the software branch to justify to its shareholders that it isn't expanding into operating systems that compete with the MS OS company.
