it's a slightly more fair game when everyone knows the maps, I am one of the players that doesn't enjoy learning new maps.

I personally don't think they should have released the map editor so that just anyone can make up whatever they want and call it a wargame. Some of the custom maps just aren't right I think.

We played the first couple years on the UF server with the original maps and it was a worldly effort to get the temple added as the first custom map as nobody wanted to learn it or want to wait on the huge download at the time.

Ever since the beginning there seemed to be annual phases where the server was packed for a while and then empty for a while due to RL happenings. In the very beginning a game with more than 6 players was mostly unheard of and we played pretty rough. usually back then we'd stack teams to even it up, often times DNB and me would be against 4-5 others and it was surprisingly even most times.
