Garage sales, thrift store, Craigs List (though, this one is dependent on location), note scribbled and tacked up on a school/uni notice board ...

I will grant that it does depend on the market, but unless it's ancient, i'm pretty sure even a modest effort will find sufficient, free, advertising to reach the buyers, even if they're not buying.
