Hey!! Who's ready for some EXCITEMENT?!? by SouthpawPL 2007-10-22 11:57:07
You can have some of mine...

In short, the Santiago Canyon fire in Orange County, CA., is about four miles from my house.

Last nite, I watched the flames advance over two ridges in 20 minutes, driven by 40 mph winds. I grabbed my bug-out pack and spent the night at SWMBO's house.

Fortunately, the OCFA managed to hold the line at Portola Parkway -3.5 miles away-, but the winds haven't let up, and other areas of Irvine are at risk. I'm back home with some of my stuff, but keeping a watch on developments.

The skies are yellow and gray, the sun is red, the air is ful of smoke and ash.

Repoting live, from the Gates of Hell, SouthpawPL for Ufie news...
