... in order for any sort of socialized medicine to work, the legal system has to be significantly rearchitected.

Why? Because one of our current presidential candidates made his millions on malpractice suits.

If we followed this concept (office visits cost $50 but subsequent treatments do not) and we leave the law alone, the first person to die as a result of denied treatment would bankrupt the government.
