And I don't think that was the point of the original TLP. The original TLP (as I understood it) was targeted more toward those who base their entire life value system on ideals that are intrinsically (and obviously) wrong. It also suggested that these folks are responsible for a lot of the world's ills.
Mistakes happen, even to the best of critical thinkers. The scenarios you describe for yourself are more issues of either training for you or just staying focused on the job. The lack of training wasn't necessarily your fault and the lack of focus? Like I said, everyone makes mistakes.
Interestingly, those folks who would mock and castigate someone for making mistakes are the ones who were guilty of the lack of critical thinking. Ostracizing others is a basic form of social exclusion and in a workplace setting, where the success of every employee furthers the common goals of the company (and by proxy, every other employee), creating animosity and exclusion is not a very enlightened position to follow. Especially in positions where mistakes can be costly to the company (or the taxpayers) or where the work is otherwise important to the company's overall well-being.
IMHO, folks who routinely laugh at others aren't critical thinkers. They're just another form of sheeple, following whatever flock makes them feel superior. Just my two cents, of course. ;) |
