I had the same problem in my Metro
5 position switch
nothing woked on positions 2 and 3
position 1 is off :-)
took apart switch and it had arcs connecting all positions
sanded the contacts in the switch so that no extra connections were being made.
after that all positions worked.

probably normal abuse from switching to full on and skipping over the rest of the positions.
so after this I make sure to stop at each one.
