How hard will it be to recover a hardware RAID 0+1 by z1root2007-10-08 12:09:05

4 days? Just to read 500Gb? Wow! by z1root2007-10-08 12:32:12

So, do you come here often? by z1root2007-10-08 13:06:47
Fortunately, you don't/shouldn't need a mirror by subbywan 2007-10-08 13:19:11
system. All you really need is to be able to see the drives as devices on the computer (not even as lettered drives -- merely that there ARE drives there, even if they're inaccessible through the OS.

Part of the reason it takes so long is that it runs through every possible data combination.

That 500 gig IDE had a few hundred possible data combinations listed, with one 1 of them being the right one (though, it's marked in green vs red).

That's why the raid takes even longer - It has multiple drives with multiple combinations to check.

I'd say just plug that RAID tower into your computer and see if something like R-Studio can even see it. If it can, get your fastest/best machine to scan the drives, and then plug in a new drive/raid to write the data to after it's done.
