  My first reaction...should be civil offense only by altordwm 2007-10-08 12:33:25
I'm not sure why, but it just doesn't pass my "sniff test" of what should be considered a criminal offense. Nobody gets hurt. It doesn't cause any harm to society in general.

That said, I have no problem with it being a civil offense, where a plaintiff could sue for damages.

Now, we are just talking about the slurping of the Internet connection here...not doing something else that is already illegal. If you break into a computer or use the Internet connection for other "bad things," then those offenses are already covered in the criminal code. Perhaps we should just add a year or two to your sentence for "stealing" the connection at that point.
