whose it is. I pick up signals from about 5 or 6 home lans. About 1/2 are unsecured. There are, however, about 30 houses within Wifi range.

Plus, if I'm using theirs, its because mine is down for some reason, and people get offended if I start banging randomly on doors at 3 am to see if it's their lan I'm connected to.

i would say that having a leech on your system, though, is a GOOD motivation to learn how to secure your box. And having seen a number of companies methods for doing so, it really is point-and-click, even if it's a lame password they pick.
