How hard will it be to recover a hardware RAID 0+1 by z1root 2007-10-08 12:09:05
I do side work for small businesses. I have a client that purchased an Iomega StorCenter Network 1TB Hard Drive (4HD x 250GB), (on my recommendation :-( ) which has now failed. He has asked me for a data recovery estimate and this would be my first time attempting to repair/recover a RAID array.

If the problem is on the board and the drives and their data are still good, how much work is this likely to be and what tools do you recommend? If I recall correctly, the system was set up in a RAID 0+1 configuration. Also, I have disk imaging software and have my own computer running with an unused hardware RAID controller on the motherboard. Would the disks likely come up on my hardware raid controller if it supports hardware RAID 0+1?

He has also asked for replacement recommendations. He's not likely to accept a similar model from the same manufacture now. Suggestions? I'm thinking something with hot swappable drives, if it's not too far out of his budget. He needs something with an easy backup solution.
