Need a box to act as a spamfilter. Was using mailcleaner (OS edition) but not ideal. Requirements are:
standalone box, acting as filtering mta (and relaying to our controlled domains)
user access to view spam quarantine (web interface, or linky in spam quarantine summary), and user to initiate a forward of nonspam.
Daily summary only, not individual messages (and quarantine spam, not tag it)
whitelisting of good addresses (I know, not ideal, but customer requirement)
good spam protection (erring on over zealous if user has access to quarantine)
multiple domains to multiple target mta's would be nice
easy configuration and updating (new blacklists, patterns etc)
auto-reject if destination address not exist on target mta
Free (as in beer) would be nice, but not totally against a commercial solution (but our client domains are schools, no a) poor, b) think of the children ...
I tried an ubuntu box with spamassassin, mailscanner, postgrey over postfix, but it was awful - dunno if I was thick, but so many products looking after mail, I got lost as to what was doing what, and was unable to set up spam filter rules (especially the relationship between mailscanner and spamassassin, that sent me nuts.)
