I don't think he needs any sympathy. A pat on the back from his superiors, maybe.
The girl is part of the public that he is sworn to protect. Blaming her for being in the state she is in is like saying that there should be no need for police. It denies the fact that we are all human, and act human - which includes doing things we shouldn't.
Even worse, it attempts to ignore the factors influencing humans, making us behave other than in our (or society's) best interest. Making it that much more difficult to address those very real problems. |
