near your shoulderblades in a joint lock that it is "too far." The arm "bar" he had her in is more of a "come over here" than anything else.

I have seen people do what you describe and have no pain at all. My Sensei in Jujitsu showed us that with a young kid in the class. I swear that kid had extra joints!! He put him in locks that would have shattered my elbow but the kid just stared at him because it didn't hurt till he moved that extra fraction of an inch and THEN he was tapping for all he was worth!! I filed that lesson away for anytime I apply a joint lock... EVERYONE is different in the point it takes to lock them up. That is where practice and sensitivity training come in.
