parents might well sue your uncle for bringing the kid home, or tell him to shove off and stay out of their business if he just tells them. A lot of communities have delegated to the cops what they used to to themselves for a variety of reasons, from legal to simple social ones (like solicitors ignoring requests from citizens to leave a neighbourhood).
