Yes started as Oracle tool, but they it was already capable of other connections when they started to branch out aggressively after Oracle let us see "Project Raptor" (gosh - that was two years back IIRC) which last year emerged as SQLDeveloper.

Of course TOAD is still the definitive OraDB tool, but SQL Developer is catching up for some things, and we've ceased support on most (but not all! The DBAs still use) of our TOAD licences. But why can I not have two tables view open at the same time....

On an unrelated note, but back on-topic, JDeveloper can do entity modeling too.
