If you are right, this is so on the right track.
We have video calls.
We talk about ordinary life.
We talk about God, and kids.
We whine about politics.
We discuss and expand crackpot physics theories.
We talk about what we do on ordinary days,
and what we'd like to do on ordinary days.
We save up the ideas of what the other wants...
The risk of wanting the relationship as much as the person has not been eliminated, but somehow, asking questions never seems to help there. So the only way I know to fight those doubts is a lot of paying attention to both sides (what, I have to know who *I* am too?????) and a fair bit of meditation.
The distance thing being the second richest source of doubt, but the one that's easy to overcome by learning more, so thus the question on the board.
OK, so perhaps crackpot physics involving food items wasn't on your list, but it's a pretty strong bonding activity all the same.
One other thing that gives me a little more hope in this case, is an odd "fun" competition to see who can out understand the other. Nothing like a little competition to improve skills, and these particular skills have some bearing to what two people can become... : )
Thank you for taking the time for "Thinking about this some more" - I appreciate the extra ideas!
