"Family of choice" are literally people you choose to consider your family. They are usually not blood relatives. They are still people you care deeply about and would do anything for. Sorry you didn't understand that.
Logically, from reading your initial post, you either surrounded yourself with a family of choice (i.e. non-blood people whom you love and care about and who reciprocate), or you are alone (e.g. "loner"), since it seemed as if you've divorced yourself from your family of origin. That's what I meant. If you didn't get that from my typing - sorry I wasn't making myself clear to you.
And "good for you" meant - if you've done all that (divorced yourself from your family of origin, and are OK with that and happy and self-sufficient and all), then that's a good thing for you.
And yeah, I do have nerve, and the battle scars to prove it. |
