Ahhh...

Had an old Micron given to me. Pentium III 450MHz with an 8GB drive and 256MB memory, CD-RW and DVD-ROM.

The previous owner evidently pulled the NIC for use elsewhere. No problems. I pulled a NIC from my "spares" box, installed it and brought the machine up. Got the driver installed and started looking around.

EWWWW: Windows 98 Original version. Unpatched as far as I could tell.

*REBOOT FROM FLOPPY*

*Configure system using EDIT*
Dang that felt good. Haven't used EDIT for a LONG time.
Okay - Now there's 8,038.55MB free. (There was only about 700MB free when I started.)

Now what do I do?

It's a strange case:

Room for 4 fans. Two were installed on the back plane, but one was all but frozen. So I pulled it out and pitched it. Two of the fans are on the back and the other two are on a fold-out plastic piece that covers the CPU and expansion slot areas. The two fan openings puts one over the PCI slots and the other over the CPU area
250W PSU.
MoBo has AGP, PCI and EISA slots.
It's a fat tower case.
There's an odd opening between the MoBo side of the case and the PSU. It's about the same height as a standard expansion card backplane, but somewhat wider. It has a removeable cover. I have no idea what that might be....

I'm seriously thinking about pitching the old MoBo and building a more modern system in the case as it has so much cooling potential....
