What's all that fuzz about "you should try to foster a relationship with her"?

Why?

Just because you should?

Without thinking, just because?

Sorry, it may be the right thing for mysterious_girl to try and foster a relationship with her mother - but it also may not be a good idea.

That has to be analyzed.

I'm sorry for meddling, but I just can't take all that unreflected "you should do that"/"you have to do that" anymore.

Just to avoid any misunderstandings:

I'm 29, "real life" is all around me, and I'm handling things quite well without the help of my parents.
