I played a game many, many, many years ago; it was basically a civilization clone, except that the world was absolutely huge. I don't recall if it would automatically make random maps - I believe it only had a map of the world. The world was enormous, though, and had a very detailed world map. It might have been only Europe/Asia/Africa, as I don't recall ever seeing the "New World." It had a lot more resources, too - instead of the usual wood, stone, iron, food, it also had stuff like horses, elephants, ivory, jade, processed and unprocessed goods, and a host of other things.
This was 10 or 13 years ago; I played in Windows 3.1, I believe. I got the game from a friend of mine, who found it on a BBoard somewhere. The game was in developement - I remember, because there were no AI players at the time (either that, or the AI was dumb as a rock and didn't do anything, I forget which). There was space for a lot of human players, though, either over a network (possibly through email?) or hot-seat style.
I've looked around recently, but I haven't been able to find anything yet (it's not Freeciv or C-evo). Any thoughts as to what it might be? I'm not expecting that it will have been "completed", because it really was a huge game; if nothing else, it'll be good for a jaunt down memory lane. |
